Guitar Amp Chassis Cradle

IMG_4672

If you’ve ever tried working on a guitar amp before you’ve probably noticed it is difficult to prop the chassis up without damaging the tubes or removing the tubes altogether.   I decided to make a universal stand to hold any size amp I might throw at it.   After looking around online I found a simple design that I thought I could whip together pretty fast.

My cradle does not look near as nice but it gets the job done.  It also is definitely cheaper than purchasing an actual stand (~$150).  I followed the directions on the link almost to the letter.   Nonetheless I have included instructions along with the pictures below.

Here is a list of parts that I used:

Qty         Part

2             2″x8″x10″  (10″ tall, 8″ wide)

2             1″x2″x10″ oak

2             26″ long, 3/4″ EMT

2             wood insert nuts, 1/4-20 brass

2             1/4″x1.5″ thumbscrews

2             #10 x 2″ screws  (to hold the conduit in place on the left side)
